My story doesn't begin with a string of easy successes. It begins where many journeys do—with a powerful idea planted at a young age, followed by the hard reality of struggle.

When I was 18, I was introduced to the concept of asset-based income. The idea electrified me: you could work hard now to build a business—an asset—that would one day generate income with very little direct effort. It was a vision of freedom that stuck with me throughout my entire career.

But my initial attempt was a failure. My path wasn't linear. After years in the corporate world, I took a sabbatical and eventually, in 2013, founded my one-man marketing agency, Optiflow.

For seven good years, I was the classic "S" quadrant professional—the Self-Employed expert. I was great at my specialty, helping clients turn advertising into profit. But I had made a critical error in my thinking: I hadn't built a business; I'd built myself a better-paying, more demanding job. I was the magic in my own business. I was the system. I had built a magnificent sandcastle of active income.

And then…

Within the space of a single week, the economic tide came in and washed my sandcastle away. My income vanished overnight. It was a brutal, humbling reality check that taught me a painful but powerful lesson: being the best technician in your own business is not freedom. It is the most fragile kind of security.

It was from this point of rebuilding that I was introduced to DuePoint in 2023.

My alarm bells went off immediately. But my due diligence showed me something different. The founders, the Benfield family, were prolific entrepreneurs with exceptional track records of integrity. This wasn't a vague promise; it was a business vehicle built by titans of industry, inviting scrutiny from every regulator to prove their integrity.

Yet, I also saw a gap.
